MRT Passes

Sunday, August 7, 2011

Our plan for our first day out is to head to the Taipei Zoo and also ride the Maokong Gondola.  To start our adventure, we decide it's time for our third mode of transportation and venture out in a taxi to get MRT passes.    I had researched online and knew the MRT Brown Line deadended into the Zoo.

We wanted to buy one-day MRT passes and tried to do it on our own at the automated machines.  Most of them appeared to want you to buy a certain fare amount or load it on a card.  I remembered reading in our blog of our first Taiwan trip that we had to rely on the help of a passing English-speaking person.  No one came to our rescue this time, so eventually we headed to the information booth.

We had quite a language barrier, but after passing a laminated flyer back and forth several times, Troy determined he had bought our passes.  We realized there was a deposit on them that we could get back if they were returned within 3 days.
